Message spec for acceptable compression (I think it's 128). 2. Bad oil seals will not affect compression, only to cause the car to blow out oil smoke (usually blue) especially on decel. 3. Leaky valves will cause black smoke to be emitted (unburned fuel), not blue. 4. A leak down test will give you a better idea of where any loss of compression is, and to be able to locate it by listening to the escaping air. 5. It's a REAL good idea to at least have a good machine shop install new rings and bearings and have the valves ground, to have an essentially fresh (though rebuilt) engine. If you're not going after a gozillion HP (I think that's a bazillion squared), the original cast pistons and especially the stock rods are up to the task. There is always more that you can do to improve the quality and strength of the rebuild, but I'd at least do those steps, as long as you are pulling the engine to install new turbos. Obviously you would replace all seals, gaskets, etc. as well (comes in a complete rebuild kit from Nissan). FWIW, Mark
